As an expat mother, I experienced having my mama by my side at my 1st birth and the early postpartum weeks. I then experienced not having her around with my 2nd.
As a doula, I want to be this support person for the mama, someone who’s on her team, looking after her and holding space for her as she travels through the life portal to bring her baby earthside with her. I can also be there to accompany her through her early postpartum weeks so she can feel seen, nurtured and nourished so she could look after her baby. Furthermore, I am able to support her to get her breastfeeding journey off to a good start, should she choose that path.
